This month, In The Bag, sat down with a close friend (thank you mum's group) and without sounding cliche one of the most inspiring women, Lisa Wipfli. There aren't many women who can balance 3 young children and a booming business all whilst looking totally beautiful and put together no matter whether she is powering the streets with her gorgeous daughter, Francesca, in the pram; off to a shoot to promote her business, Nourishing Bubs; or heading out to catch up with close friends. There is no question, Lisa is in a whole league of her own.
We loved hearing how she juggles all 3 kids - the glamour of motherhood - and how she really makes it all work. Not to mention, we adore how she styles Cub and Scout every day to fit her busy schedule.
Tell us about an average day in your world…
Wake up very early to the child alarm clock, usually at 5.45am, feed three kids and get Ted and Jack ready for school. School drop off at 8.30am, followed by some form of exercise for me, either a 30 minute work-out at home or a walk with Francesca in the pram. I try to cram in a bit of work for Nourishing Bubs, 400 loads of washing, make a quick lunch and then realise it's time for school pick up (2.30pm comes around waaaay too fast). Then we either swim in the pool in the afternoon or do some in-door activities whilst juggling making lunches for the next day and dinner. It's so glam and relaxing. Wednesday is my treat day when I get a blowdry.
What are three things you never leave home without?
Francesca, my phone, my lip gloss.
Best advice on how to juggle being both a business woman and mother?
Have a to-do list. You are so much more productive when you have a to-do list and it means you'll forget a lot less given you're working with a frazzled mum brain.
Tips for mums planning a second, third (or more) baby?
Don't plan, don't overthink it, just do it, if that's what you and your partner want. It's going to be chaotic and on paper it may seem impossible, but if you would like another child, then go with it and enjoy the ride. Too much overthinking causes anxiety.
Three baby bag ‘must haves’?
3. hand sanitiser
How would you describe your personal style?
Conservative, I'd like to say fairly classic, and a little more feminine as I've got older.
What’s your signature dish?
Baked salmon with a fresh salad and in winter, a chicken roast. Let's just say, I'm not known for my cooking.
Where will you be holidaying once travel restrictions are lifted?
Aaaah, dreaming of that holiday. Locally we are going to Noosa in November (fingers crossed) and then the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria for Christmas. The first international holiday will be to my favourite place in the world, Italy. The boys are desperate to see Paris for some reason, so maybe a quick trip there on the way.
Describe your ideal night in with your husband and children…
Japanese takeaway with a glass of Pinot Noir and a great playlist where we all sing along. The children in bed at 7pm, and then Mike and I on the couch watching a series, at the moment we're loving Succession on Binge.
What is your go-to CUB + SCOUT bag?
I'm just adoring the Denim Livi tote at the moment, the size is so perfect for school pick up and those quick trips to carry my keys, phone, and wallet. It goes with everything.
Who are your female role models?
Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge
What are your plans for the rest of 2020?
Mike is filming Celebrity Apprentice, so he has a grueling schedule between the radio show and the TV show, so we are crawling to the Christmas holiday finish line. We are hoping that our Noosa holiday doesn't get cancelled and we can see our family in Victoria for Christmas. From a business perspective, we're working on some new products for Nourishing Bubs.
